3D marine animation, submerged vessel

In this example of 3D marine animation, an Akula Class Russian Submarine demonstrates briefly the submerged vessel technique. How did we achieve this? First of all, we create a detailed and realistic undulating ocean surface. This is complemented by the depths of the ocean beneath. Also, columns of light from the surface penetrate into its depths. The passing submarine and comes into focus as it moves forward into the frame. A shoal of fish dart beneath the Submarine as it approaches. This is just one of a selection of possible scene actors whether it’s fish, a shipwreck or sea kelp moving with the tide. Subsequently, all of these elements increase the realism of the animation. Studio Mitchell’s attention to detail is apparent in their 3D CGI marine animation.

3D CGI marine animation, ocean surface

This 3D CGI marine animation is the second in a series depicting an Akula Class Russian Submarine. This sequence shows the vessel travelling across the surface in wintery conditions. How do we achieve this? First of all, we create a detailed and realistic undulating ocean surface. The foam on the waves adds further realism. Another visual effect used is the weather conditions, the type of sky and of course the snow falling. As the Submarine passes the sea is disturbed creating a wake and bow wave. A buoy bobs on the ocean surface. This is just one of a selection of possible scene actors whether it’s an island, a shipwreck or a coastline. Subsequently, all of these elements increase the realism of the animation. Studio Mitchell’s attention to detail is apparent in their 3D CGI marine animation.

Marine animation 3D CGI , ocean cross section

The sea floor and rock formations come into focus as the camera moves forward. A shoal of fish dart beneath the Submarine as it approaches. This is just one of a selection of possible scene actors whether it’s fish, a shipwreck or sea kelp moving with the tide. Subsequently, all of these elements increase the realism of the animation. Volt Loudspeakers CGI animation

Studio Mitchell were commissioned by Volt loudspeakers to produce an infomercial to promote their Radial Speaker product. Working closely with Volt Studio Mitchell created accurate models of the renowned radial speaker and a generic competitor speaker. The speakers are tested in a high tech futuristic 3D environment. The CGI animated tests reflect real life problems that sound studio encounter when a speaker unit gets too hot ultimately causing a speaker failure. Volts clever technology draws heat away from the unit keeping the speaker cooler and working constantly for longer. Special 3D techniques were utilised in this move such as ‘Sound Effectors’ to move the speaker in time with the music amplifying the movement of the 3D mesh where the sound is louder. Post production effects include the airflow animation and HUD graphics on the screen.

Orbus Tonearm

Carlsberg commissioned Studio Mitchell to model an entire Seven Eleven store in Copenhagen. This fly-through animation was part of a series ranging from a Corner Shop to a Hypermarket demonstrating product placement in-store. The films were launched at the Global conference in Denmark.
