Cinematic marine CGI and environmental animation
The Leopard began as a study in creating a believable storm environment around a historical sailing ship using Cinema 4D, Redshift and compositing.
Rather than relying on increasingly complex ocean simulation, the sequence focused on the elements that make maritime imagery feel convincing: atmosphere, rain, fog, reduced visibility, lighting, silhouette and the interaction between the vessel and its environment.
The project combined traditional CGI and visual-effects techniques with AI-assisted experimentation during look development, using those tools to explore weather, composition and mood rather than replace the core 3D workflow.
The result became less a technical ocean simulation and more an exercise in environmental cinematography — creating a sense of scale and drama through atmosphere, timing and controlled imperfection.
